Tierra de Lucha
Multimedia project about working conditions in Colombia. 2019 was a symbolic year for workers around the world: it marked the 100th anniversary of the International Labor Organization. In this context, we traveled with FOS, IFSI and Solsoc to film and later edit "Tierra de lucha", a feature documentary on the rights of workers in Colombia. The unionization rate in Colombia is barely 4.6% of the workforce. Union repression is among the most brutal in the world. "To be a trade unionist in Colombia is to have one foot in the grave," Luis Giovanni Castañeda, president of the Sintraimagra union, told us in Medellín. "Tierra de Lucha" tells the story of several workers - from sugar cane cutters to domestic workers and activists - and how they live despite the repression of the state, employers and various armed groups.
