Both Nomads - Who we are
Both Nomads

Our History

Tom and Bibbi started Both Nomads as a way to mix and learn from each other's experiences. Bibbi worked as a foreign correspondent and communications coordinator in South Asia, Latin America and Europe. Tom organised events in Brussels, developed his own silkscreening atelier and project Split Channels, worked in graphic design, and taught creative workshops to children around Belgium. Today, with Both Nomads, they join hands with civil society organisations, activists, creatives and communities focusing on issues related to human rights, representation and subcultures.

What we do

We're creators specializing in documentaries, research papers, short films, photo reportages, zines, and visual stories. Collaborating globally since 2008, our multimedia projects and campaigns advocate for collective rights and power shifts. We promote non-formal education through workshops and community initiatives.

Our process

Our work includes as much as possible ethnographic elements and a participative & multilingual process. Our current projects highlight solidarity ties, the stories of individuals, collectives and organisations having a positive impact on their communities. We are interested in gender and culture, civic space, engagement with new technologies, rural life and transnational identities.

Our multimedia projects

From documentaries to podcasts and campaigns, we work with different mediums to tell stories. This has brought us into the lives of human rights activists in Colombia, the Kung Fu nuns of the Himalayas fighting against human trafficking, skateboarders in Morocco defying gender norms, community-based approach to HIV treatment in Thailand, youth climate leaders in Europe, and many more.

Our workshops

We are currently carrying out electronic music workshops with children in Brussels. These workshops are all about exploration & improvisation with (electronic) sounds and creating music in group. Over the years, we have collaborated with schools, organisations and individuals to share and explore music improvisation, filmmaking, silkscreening and photography with communities from around the globe.

Our collaborations

Over the years, we have collaborated with a wide range of people, from MEPs in Brussels to those struggling with homelessness in the US, to Father Dario Escobar - Lebanon's last hermit - and the representatives of No Mas Muertes saving lives of border crossers along the US-Mexico border. With Forus, a global network of civil society organisations, we create campaigns on civic space, gender and climate justice as well as financing for sustainable develpment. Our collaborators include UNESCO, Vice News, Eurochambres, the European Parliament, the Jane Goodall Institute, BOZAR, FGBT, Solsoc, the Fair Trade Advocacy Office and many more.
