Mycellium tales

Long before trees overtook the land, earth was covered by giant mushrooms. Land fungi have populated our spaces since over 1,300 million years ago. The mycelium, which extends more than 300 miles down into the earth, refers to the thread-like body of a fungus. The word mycelium literally means “more than one” and it's a series of underground networks that shape our world. The mushrooms that we eat and see are actually just a small visible part of the organism - just like flowers are just a small part of plants. In this ongoing project we go and meet people fascinated by this universe. From those developing mycelium-based materials to replace plastic, to users of psychadelic mushrooms and fungi lovers, we dive into forests, homes and mycology.
